The ancient Celtic festival Samhain marked the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter (November 1). It was typically celebrated on October 31 with massive community bonfires and feasts. People wore costumes to confuse and ward off any evil spirits, as they believed the veil went down between their world and the spirit world for that one night a year.

Evil faeries and their mounds (villages), some say sidhs are the male versions of banshees
